The Grass is Not Greener on the Other Side

Have you ever looked at someone you admire and think about how easy they must have it or how much you wish you could experience what they experience?

“The Grass is Greener on the Other Side” concept has been around for a long time and expresses our lack of personal fulfillment and distraction in always looking at what others have, thinking it must be easier or better. That couldn’t be more false.

The beautiful, smart, perfectly capable young girl looks at the popular crowd and feels “not good enough.” New business owners always look at established business owners and dream of what it must be like to have fame and plenty of money or clients.

The madness has to stop. I’ve met many “established business owners” who “appear” to have a good income, but are truly just getting by. I was in the popular crowd for a short while and they were largely miserable, mean individuals.

If you ever find yourself looking at someone else, wishing you had what they had, I want you to know it is simply an opening, an awareness of what you want to have in your life in order to be fulfilled. Make a conscious choice to let that awareness motivate you to go after what you want. The answer doesn’t lie in what others have. The key is to find your own self-fulfillment and joy.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you find yourself envying others, or find that others envy you? Leave a comment below and let’s continue this conversation.
